I wanted a comparative study to Undefeated by adding another sports documentary to my arsenal. It's narrative is extremely similar, being portrayed as simply footage that just so happened to capture an amazing story. The excitement is somewhat lost in Conor Mcgregor's story as we know that he succeeds, whereas Undefeated follows a bunch of nameless teenagers who started with next to nothing and we have no idea if they succeed or not. On the other hand, Conor Mcgregor has become a household name, especially for followers of the sport, and so, we already know the outcome and aren't as invested. The documentary is shot beautifully, but is essentially just one big advertisement. Rather than show much actual footage of Mcgregor from his early days of having supposedly nothing (even though it seemed like he wasn't doing too bad before) and instead just features him doing his usual bragging but this time in the comfort of his mansion filled to the brim with luxury. In other words, rather than showing us his rise to fortune, it's more like he's simply telling us while shoving the end goal in our face. Assuming he had some say in what footage was included, somebody needs to teach Mcgregor what exposition is.
